Who is Linking to You
Brad Simon
There is an easy way to see what links you have coming into your website. Go to any search engine and in the search box type in the word links followed by a colon followed by your domain name. For example:
links:YourDomainName.com
This will give you a list of all the links pointing to your home page (including sub-pages on your website pointing back to your home page). You can do each page of your website using this method. For example if you have a page on your website called JewelryRepair.html you can find the links to it by doing a search for:
links:YourDomainName.com/ JewelryRepair.html
It is best not to do this search in Google because for some reason Google keeps the links they find somewhat of a secret and will only list a few links. It is better to do this search in Yahoo or MSN to find all the links coming into your website.
If you want to exclude all the links on your website pointing to your pages after your domain name type a space followed by the minus sign followed by your domain name. For example:
links:YourDomainName.com -YourDomainName.com
This will give you all the off-site links coming into your home page without the links from your sub-pages.
Special Note: For some unknown reason the number of links you see coming into your site can vary considerably from day-to-day, minute-to-minute and search engine-to-search engine. Don't worry if this happens. It's normal.
